Paramount's been quite industrious, and will be churning out Blu-rays by the end of May. Cloverfield is slated for June 3, word is there will be additional features but none of them are in HD. Oh well, I'll take it anyway.

Ok I finally watched it and after reading this thread, I need to watch it again. I will agree with phantom (wow.. again!) and Pagong. There were moments I was thinking wtf am I watching, but I was sucked in. And it was the characters that kept me watching. The characters were "fleshed out" enough to make me care about them. I am not a fan of monster movies so I'm surprised that I enjoyed the movie as much as I did.

For sure. I feel sorry for people who won't get to see it on the big screen. It was no matter how you felt about the movie, in the end it was definitely an experience.

I picked up the limited edition from Future Shop....I basically payed 5 extra dollars for a tin case. Looks cool, nothing...

Yeah I can't imagine they would trash them, either. Some people were speculating they would push out a version without extras then double dip later with a special edition that had the extras.

Supposedly there were a ton of HD-exclusive special features. They wouldn't just throw those away, but they might need time to transfer them to the other format. It's gonna be a long wait no matter what; Universal announced their first BD titles will be out in the fourth quarter.

I've heard there aren't going to be any extras on the Bluray version due to the demise of HD-DVD (as that was what they had planned to release it on). Anyone know if that is true?

I'll probably wait for a "special edition" Bluray to come out that actually has the extras

But seriously...i understand what you are saying about intercut other camera footage from various types of people to get a wider variety of New York types...but you do realize that by increasing the amount of characters in a monster action movie, you will actually have less time to flesh them out a bit and to empathize with them. Its a trend to reward moviegoers to stay through the credits. If you arent the type who does that, thats your problem :P dont blame the moviemakers for you paying to see it again just for the credits...

As for better written characters...for a hollywood monster movie, the movie did a pretty damn good job fleshing out characters for you to care about in just 15 minutes. Especially being filmed in 1st person...which limits your ability for...

I know this doesn't really have anything to do with LOST, but did anyone see the trailer to this before Transformers? Apparently this movie doesn't have a title, or a cast list.. everything about it is top secret. Seems very LOST like to me..
