The problem is that the sharks were brought on board with gaff hooks. The deckhands didn't take much care in gaffing them. I'm sure a lot of sharks didn't survive the release.

Unreal, the Workers on a boat called The Big Eye got 50,000 lbs. of Swordfish
over 2 months of hard work and the Owner Chris Chompers Hanson owns the
boat with his girlfriend and they only paid the Deck Hands 800.00 each for
the 2 months.
Another Boat got 77,000 lbs. and the Deck hands got about 27,000.00 each.
for the 2 months timeframe.
