I had basil in a large pot with parsley and oregano. It was dying so I moved it out into its own pot and it is coming back to life.

Does anyone know if basil doesn't like to be potted with other herbs?

I knew Pesto is a plant to become food. I smelt a Yellow Cab Pizza Ice Cream and my mother tasted it in a shopping mall.

Ginger-cilantro pesto with chopped Macadamia nuts (canola oil rather olive oil) -- very light and refreshing -- great with pasta and chicken, or both.

I gotta try growing basil. I buy these huge bundles from the Asian grocery for a buck or two, and then most of it winds up going bad in the bottom of the vegetable drawer.

I use it in Thai dishes mostly. I've never tried making pesto. I should put that on my to-do list!

Actually after I put it in the refrigerator it firmed up nicely and now it will make a great spread. This batch is definitely the best pesto I've ever made.

Add even more olive oil and it makes a nice dipping oil for bread.

Yeah the walnuts gave it a distinct flavor. I think I added too much olive oil though but its still very tasty.

I like toasted walnuts too cra. However, you'd never use a raw hard nut like almonds. They would never blend. Pignoli are ok raw because they are soft.

Yeah I have parsley growing in another huge pot. That stuff grows faster than the basil! I've never tried making pesto from it though...can I mix the basil and parsley together in the pesto?

I hate the caterpillers!! They keep stripping my parsley. Parsley pesto is good too!

it grows here year round, so I always have a supply of basil, rosemary, oregano and chives

My basil seems to have been attacked by bugs.

Stunted and the leaves are full of holes.

I can't find any bugs on the plants though.
