I'm just glad to be holed up here in the Rockies where there's plenty of room for my stockpile of weapons and beef jerky. I plan to emerge unscathed later after the eastcoasters and westcoasters have killed each other off.

which convention center - the one downtown or the astrodome area one? - that has terrible food near it

for Houston, the tex-mex, fusion food or sea food is the way to go

I was down by the arena/convention center and the food was uninspired and over-priced. I did go to an Irish pub in the old town area, which was okay but nothing special. No one told me about underground stuff, but then again I hate shopping. No such interest in the rainbow warriors, sorry.

I would have loved to go to someone's house for dinner -- I could have scored some tickets to the Rockets game as a thank you (I have a connection).

Houston has great food - going out for dinner is a much better idea

and most of the daytime activity downtown in Houston occurs underground - people use the tunnels to go from place to place and there's lots of stoes and restaurants down there

however, it is hot, muggy and definitely lacking in a lot of aspects, though it does have a fairly thriving gay community
