Taj and Stephen were in an "alliance" with JT, but we've never been shown that JT was told about the cross-tribal alliance, have we? Maybe Sierra approached JT about Taj and Stephen being in an alliance with Brendan and Sierra...and he disbelieves her. Stephen is going to have some explaining to do.
They never showed the audience that JT was let in on it, no. He knew though because I remember watching a scene where Stephen and JT were talking...

"It was certainly a game changing event for the "Warrior" looks like he's eatimg a huge crow next week. Watching this knuckehead scuffle each week is better than a good "Bully Beatdown". Erinn has about a 0.0001% shot of switching back. Sierra will be loyal, for some reason.

It really was (and should have been) more about voting off who was the biggest threat.

I think that C.roach lives in his own little fantasy world, bathed in imaginary, glory and truth and honor. His ugly name-calling was usually aimed at "what was best for the tribe." Tyson was much more connected to the game of survivor and to the other people there. What Ben says is mostly about BEN and his fantasy.
