Gays are firmly entrenched here and a big political force - the City Controller of Houston is a lesbian and she's running for mayor last I heard. I'd guess that probably a third to halt of East Texas is black and in Houston, whites are the minority (same probably goes for San Antonio and El Paso).

The anti abortion and Republican bit will likely be true as most of the "Hispanic" population tends to lean that way
