I think Jennifer and Constantine are probably the safest shots for them to have used it. There was a lot of dead weight still to be lost those seasons.

Michael Johns was who they were pimping as a frontrunner very early on. However, once they started moving to theme weeks, it was pretty clear that he didn't have the chops to compete. Kind of like Lil this past year. They might have saved him since he was booted really early, but he sure as hell wasn't going to come close to winning.

Signing them is WAY down on their list of priorities. They want to maximize their ratings. If they think that it will help the ratings to use the save, they will do it. If they think it will hurt the ratings, they won't. That is their top (if not ONLY) concern...

I don't really understand the point of the save anyway. AI thrives off of drama and shock boots, they love it. They have first dibs on everyone anyway so they doubly benefit because they get the hype of a shocker boot and they get to sign that person anyway if they really want to. Brooke was okay, hated Jason, loved Michael's voice. He's the only contestant from last year that I still listen to frequently and would actually buy a CD of. It's all a matter of opinion I guess.
