Why can't TPTB even TRY to find a mainstream R&B singer? Especially a male one? A hot male one? Just about every R&B singer that has been on AI sound so dated. The very few that have been close to sounding somewhat current have been labled as "generic". I'm mentioning R&B b/c it's very dominant in top 40 in my area. TPTB need to get over that the Whitney style of singing has been played out for almost 20 years.

Whatever happened...

Success is relative. In all fairness, NOBODY is really selling CDs these days.
Ten weeks into 2009 and only ONE album has even sold a HALF million copies.
Here are the sad facts for 2009 sales (through last week) according to SoundScan:

Robin Thicke isn't doing that great these days. So how great will Matt G. do? Not to mention he's you know, fug? Although 19R should die if they sign him after passing on Elliott.
I don't see one of these losers setting the world on fire. Maybe, Alexis or Allison will surprise us. Cook is doing okay but unless you get massive Pop hits or dominate your genre, you kind of disappear. I bet more people know who Jordin Sparks is than Cook. Seriously. And monster hits is why...

I said Matt would probably be the most successful OUT OF THIS BUNCH.

Realistically I don't think anyone this season is going to experience platinum albums and sold-out concerts.
He/She will be lucky to crack the Billboard TOP 5.

Matt is current. Sure he's not fantastic, but his piano/vocal combination is great and he could do music that's the male side of Sara Beralis provided he can write or was given good music to perform. The singer/songwriter thing is big. It's the same with Megan. If they gave her some folkish music that was perfect for her range and voice she'd be a hit.

My 2 cents:

Adam & Danny have the best combo of stage presence and vocals. As recording artist I think Danny could find a niche market with soulful/rock album.
But he has a lot of haters and shitty personality.
Adam would have to HOLD back on the screaming and add in vocal effects to please the tween market. He should go the pop/electric genre.

Allison has no star quality. She could probably churn out a decent rock album but she's nothing special.

i've lived in los angeles and san francisco the past three years, and the only carrie song i've ever heard on pop stations is "BHC". granted, i don't listen to the radio that much, but that song is probably the only one of hers that has received heavy rotation in the pop market. i suppose "so small" could have garnered some spins, but i never heard it (though like i said, i dont listen to the radio often).

but i'm sure carrie's fine and happy...

i was checking out the billboard no. 1 hits from the past couple of years and all the winners from the first five seasons (except ruben, but instead clay) have had their winning single chart no. 1, but jordin and david haven't.
How fucking stupid. Wow Taylor had his shitastic coronation song chart at #1, and yet the song went nowhere, he has barely sold 700,000 albums and has no radio hits to his name, while David is already passed a million in album sales,...
