It's probably the whole relativity thing. Each Survivor probably smells so awful by the merge that they don't even notice how horrible everyone else around them smells.

I doubt they smell as bad as you'd think. Sure there's no soap or anything to wash with, but they do bathe in the ocean a lot, and that's enough to get some smell out. Try camping for 2 weeks with no soap and you'll see.
