So far the discussion in Spec about the new season has actually stayed away from what seems like the meatiest subject. I know such threads have the potential
to degenerate into the absolutely unreadable, but they still seem worth having. I'll start.

Timbira

Looking at the Timbira tribe, Bejamin stands out at me as being an unavoidable leader. There's a million reasons why - he leads people in two seperate
professions (which probably means he likes doing it), his outdoors...

FYI folks, the TV Guide Tocantins preview revealed the details of the "vote 2 out right away" twist:

- Each tribe will immediately be forced to vote out a member based solely on first impressions. At first, everybody will think the two voted out people are out
of the game for good.

- In actuality, the two voted out people will be put in a helicopter and flown directly to their tribes camp, while the rest of each tribe have to make a
4-hour hike to the locations....

Absolutely, Birdlady.

The Reality Blurred interviews are done around the time of the wilderness training, prior to anyone being allowed to speak but after they've had a while to
observe each other and interact with non verbal communication. I'm sure Ben's observations reflect his underlying biases to some extent. If he's
got his eye on Debra as an alliance partner and considers her one of the strongest based on watching her around the lodge that tells me he's...

There's a Ben interview up at RealityBlurred today, and he has the following to say about his tribe, plus JT for some reason (based on observing them at
pre-game Ponderosa). If he ends of taking control of the tribe, which is a possibility, this could give us an idea of the tribal dynamics on Timbira:
Candace: Along with JT, says she was "pleading at me with their eyes to take them into the fold", however he thinks she's too "freaked out

To me, Jalapao seems like Nakum 2.0 - the three strongest men will form an alliance with one or two of the strongest women, boot the rest and dominate the
physical challenges. So I'm thinking Joe, James, Spencer and Taj/Sydney will emerge as the dominant group.

As for Timbira, I more or less agree with NotHungry. Ben and Brendon will immediately form an alliance and take Erinn and Jerry along for numbers.

Some fair points, Tullfan, and thanks for the tip about the challenge photos. I'd reasoned exactly that about the t-shirts, though - that the idea was to
have one person who stood out based on first impressions come in literally looking different from everyone else, and see if it makes a difference. Apparently
not, but I'm sure something similar will be toyed with if there's a switch later.

From the promo vidcaps, the tribes have the same members competing in the first immunity challenge as they did at the time of the abandonment, so the 2 that
are voted out are not switched but go back to their original tribes (probably with immunity which expires after the first TC on the night of day 3). For
Timbira, I think that work ethic will be a big factor early on. Based on their backgrounds, Ben, Brandon, Debra and Jerry should all have a strong work ethic
and could all bond based on...

lol - That would be bad. It's just the start of the game, so the person wouldn't be trying to break into an already-formed group. But they would be
going around every day in a special LOSER outfit. But right, I think so far it's still just one of many speculations that they switch tribes.

I do agree that tribal dynamics will be important. They always are, of course, but for some reason this season it seems much less clear to me who are strong
players (overall players,...
