It's so weird because the CW in my area has been showing reruns of Lost on the weekends and I saw "Fire + Water" shortly before this episode aired and I've been wondering these same things in regards to how the time loop fits into his visions in that episode, if at all.

I think Hurley just feels compelled to unload his own bad conscience. He's the type of guy that can't keep all of this in - he needs release. The only rationalisation he can concoct for telling the truth is, well, that lying is wrong. But if he's pressed by anyone he'll know that his justification has nothing to do with "doing the right thing" but in reality it's all about his own guilt and pent up emotion.

I'm not sure the whole world knowing everything that happened on the island is a good thing. I'm with CP about Hurley. Does he really want to have to tell how he became a murderer there? Seriously??? (yeah self defense but who's gonna subscribe to "I killed him because he was an OTHER..lol) JMO but knowing everything the Losties did on the island as well as knowing many died in another manner (island sacrifice, shot by "friends", eaten by Smokey) would be much more...

After re-watching I'm not I get Hurley's need to tel the truth about the island and the others left behind. What different would it make to him/them? Is it just a 'lying is wrong' metnality or is he worried about something else? He should at the very least recongize that telling the public everything doesn't help the people on the island (or them as they'll be under even more scrutiny). He just comes off as somewhat childish "Lying is wrong!" when there are...

I'm along for the ride too. I don't hate the time travel story, but I wouldn't miss it either. Unless they do something that is a huge contradiction I'm fine. I'm not going to sweat the small stuff.
