CBR - wasn't confusing Phoenix with Houston. I was actually making a sarcastic comment on the collapse of the new home building industry in Phoenix...it has vanished. Builders are stuck trying to move inventory that 2 years ago they were sure would be filled by now. And don't even get me started on the foreclosures!

Ugh ... and if you have allergies of any type, the mucus dries solid in your sinuses - so that sucks. Last time we were in NM, they had record low humidity - it hovered between 9% - 13% all week. I thought that nothing could be worse than 95 degrees/90% humidity - I was wrong. It was so dry that I felt wretched all week, even with a humidifier running constantly - one day, I got out of the shower, reached for the towel, and realized that I was already dry. How fucked up is that?...

Last time I was there, it was April and 115 degF already - about 8 pm that night I realized I hadn't had to pee all day and I'd been drinking copious amounts of soda - that's how dry it is

Used to travel to Phoenix all the time too. Been there just about every month of the year. Love it. I'll take the heat from hell any day over freezing.

I used to travel to Phoenix a lot for work and I always enjoyed it. I've been there at all times of the year including 2 weeks in July (HOT HOT HOT) but we'd work all day then go to the pool. We were mostly in the Scottsdale area, which is gorgeous, and sometimes in Tempe.

But I agree that I HATE all that southwest decor. Ugh. Why do I need a metal sculpture of a gecko in my house????? Yuk.
