I had a bad experience wearing long johns when I was about 19.....

We used to go spend the night sleeping on the route the night before Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, CA. It was a very cold December and I knew it would get really cold.

I wore long johns under my jeans and drank a bottle of Seagrams with my girlfriend. It was sooo cold and I was soooo drunk that when I went into the port-a-potty to pee, I couldn't feel my butt from both cold and al-kee-hol,...

simplyamused said it and I second it. if you're buying them get the "CuddleDuds" brand. They are for chicks though, but the material is super soft and comfy and silky. I wore one of my shirts yesterday under a cute shiney short sleeved top, so yes people wear them under clothes, sometimes for show even. I don't wear them to bed however, that's one place it's never cold.

I have some silk ones for skiing (which I wear under yoga pants that are under sweat pants that are under ski pants) they're really thin.

I used to wear them under my clothes to work when I worked in a giant refrigerator, and they're good for football games too. Cold metal seats suck big time.

I might wear them if I were going to be outside in the cold for for an extended period of time, but otherwise I don't like excess/layered clothing.

I'm wearing some right now, under my pants. I need them to keep my legs warm when I walk to class (my coat keeps my top half warm).

I wore them regularly when I was a kid (back when kids went outside). Also wore the matching undershirts. Now I just have one pair of the newer fleece type for ski hill use.

I live up north, and it still surprises me how men wear a t-shirt and long johns when hanging out at their home in winter, I used to be embarrasses when I visited. I guess some men don't like sweat pants?

Not in Texas. When I lived in NY & my son was a baby we would both wear them. I didn't have a car at that time and would wait for the bus. It was freezing. I wish it would get that cold here. I am still wearing short sleeves and wore shorts this weekend.

I just bought a pair. Winter is here. do you wear them to bed or do people really wear them under their clothes? It's my first pair EVER.
