first let the first ten or so lifeboats go without any people inside to further increase panic/desperation. then let the strongest struggle/fight/cut their way onto the remaining life boats and you're all set!

or if dr. sean was on board im sure he would of figured out a fair and alphabetical solution

If the goal is to preserve the species, then it should be:

Anyone under 21 first.
Then the women.
Then the men.
Then the old people.
Then pets.
Then luggage.
Then Ryan Seacrest.
Then the rest of the gays.
