Rich and Parv probably could have beaten Rudy and Cirie in F3 IC, but would have lost crucuial jury votes if they won the challenge themselves. They were "masterminds in goats clothing," which is the best way to make it to the end without neding immunity.

Todd needed "not Denise" to win F3 IC but wasn't able to beat her in the challenge himself.

Strategy plays a small part in the game. That's why people like Jan can make it to 3rd place and Denise can make it to 4th being complete idiots

Agree for the most part, although the part about needing other people to win challenges you could argue is strategy, particularly in Rich's case where he quite obviously lost the challenge on purpose for that very reason. And I wouldn't necessarily say either Todd or Parvati needed Amanda to win that final challenge, I think Todd would have still easily won if he had won it himself and Parvati would still easily crush Amanda when talking to the jury and would likely be able to...

No, challenges are a mucher bigger part of it. In most seasons, that's what gets your team the majority at the merge and determines who controls the endgame. And the majority of winners have needed late challenge wins to succeed, especialy in the F2 era..

On one hand, Tom is one of the greatest player, but the structure of his season (no switch and his 5 always having the numbers) and his immunity streak make it harder to evaluate him as a stategic player.

Which is exactly why comparing people from different seasons is absolutely pointless. It's different circumstances. Put someone who dominated their season in another season and they might be the first one voted off.

There is a difference. The thread title suggests one thing. But didn't the survey questions highlight strategy or gameplay as the creteria?

I thought Fiji had one of the strongest final 4s of any season, with only Dreamz being a real strategic weak link.

Cirie's S12 game was basically a less successful version of Tina Wesson.
Both were older, started on the fringes, and used social skills to gradually become the core of the ruling alliance.
Cirie had her Colby (Aras) and Keith (Danielle), who would have taken her to the end.

The differences? Cirie didn't make it past F4, and Cirie likely loses to Aras 4-3 on votes from 3 male jurors plus Courtney. Also Tina's maneuvers around the Mitchell and Varner boots were...
