Mactors and Recruits are separate categories.
Jenna M and Rob C were mactorish, but they are two of the biggest fans of Reality TV ever cast.

On the other hand, the wretched Fiji cast was full of recruits, but hardly any mactors.

One thing everyone agrees on - when they recruit mactors who aren't fans of the...

Sort of...I'm saying we're judging this new cast based soley on their appearance and by our definition, we would classify them as "mactors". By showing very popular reality TV stars like Dr. Will, Colby, Janelle and Bobby Jon I'm saying that not all "mactors" are a complete waste in terms of casting. Most, yes but not all. FML I think meant to say that those 4 would be considered mactors today, just by appearence. FYI, Janelle, Will and Boby Jon wern't popular until the audience got to know them. The same, but with an opposite affect, occured with Jerry from BB10 and Joel from FvF for example.

Totally, we all have different tastes. I actually like Colby, hell I like most of these people and give them benifit of the doubt. A true Suckster never should give benifit of the doubt, but based on the fact that they appeared on Survivor at all, not because of some prejudge! It's human nautre to judge on appearance and, granted, that's all we have right now with this new cast...BUT some previous reality show contestants that we might also judge as "mactors" have turned out to be pretty entertaining when the show comes to air. So why don't we reserve judgment until we can at least hear them talk, m'kay?

And like Jake said, many professionals can't take time off, but that was true during 2001 as well. Survivor was popular, but mactors have always infiltrated the show while people with "real jobs" are aq little more few and far between.

I agree. The problem with "mactors" is that they take up too large a percentage of the recent casts, but mactors are not inherently bad. People on Sucks should be vicious(fuck,they should be a lot more vicious then they are now. The BB forum is more in the spirit of Sucks now then Sucks itself is), but they aren't being vicious. Look back a few posts ago. Someone litterally suggested mass murder. She wasn't serious I don't think, but people here have a sick, unfair...

Face it, Borneo showed that most Survivors will become mactors if their characters make a splash on the show (see also Rob M and Rupert), and the casting of Mactors began in S2 and S3. Actress Jerri was the best character in Outback, and bartneder Brandon was one of the more memorable from Africa. Lex is a mactor too, only with aspirations in music with various bands.

Remember all the abuse Debb Eaton took, and how Cindy Hall lost her job as a zookeeper. That explains why people...

Mactors are people like Jonathan Penner, Jerri, Manthey, Colby, and Fairplay.
Gary S14 and Denise S15 are the least mactorish people of their seasons.

Mactors are people who dare to try to live their dreams, rather than settling down to be accountants and make a safe paychecks. Aspiring professional and Olympic athletes take similar risks.

In the first few seasons, Survivor was a fad and it was seen as a cool way and reason to leave work for a couple of months and was able to be kept secret.

Now those same people who wanted an adventure and a chance to win a million dollars and be on one of the most popular TV shows in the world have moved on. They aren't allowed to take off from work and Survivor isn't "cool" anymore.

So, they are left with people who either don't have real jobs or are...

Ah, I see Jake. I can see why you have such a dystopic look at the show, but I respectfully disagree. What I do agree with is the lazieness SEG does with refusing to look beyond socal for recruiting. Recruits are not inherently bad, neither are younger folks. I think people who have been rejected 16 times probably shouldn't apply to the show again.

There's a reason why "Mactor" was not really around before, say, season 6. That's when we started to get an influx (which started in Thailand) of people who were just there so a guy would tune in to see tits and a girl to see abs.

If you made a list of every castaway and how interesting/fun to watch they were, the bottom half would be more full of people deemed 'mactor-ish".
I don't like Rupert, but people like him, and Kathy, Tina, Christy,...

The cast spoilers coming in show a few a few diverse,potentially interesting applicants. However, because some of them are good looking or are from California and are thus "not normal or average" and thus,mactors. I understand that this is Survivor Sucks, and that there are no sacred cows, thats not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about a serious, dangerous prejudge that people have here. I don't get it.
