One thing I will miss is their coverage of college basketball especially the MAAC as I have ties to 3 schools there. But that's only a brief mention each week.

I agree they really stopped doing serious homework in recent years. For example, Russo babbling on for weeks that Jason Bay's agent was Scott Boras and Jon Heyman had to remind him live on air after the Ramirez trade went down, that Boras was NOT Bay's agent

I was there at the beginning. Well, before the beginning when the Dog was doing sports for Imus. God he was irritating..but the combo of the two just worked. In a way, they represented different aspects of the New York Personality: Mike's know-it-all-ness and arrogance and Dog's high energy/Jerry Lewis type urban dope, and they represented what I dig about being a sports fan (wanting to be knowledgable and yet, rabid and excitable). Apart, it was clear what their respective weaknesses...

I haven't been a regular listener of their show since I got Sirius over a year ago, but I listened to the final show on the wfan website. What were these two fighting about 6 months ago that they kept referring to?

I'm guessing wfan is hurting financially and made a lowball offer to Dog, and he chose to move on for more cash.

I've been listening to the show for as long as I remember, i've always preferred Dog and probably won't continue to follow the show. Maybe it's just my hatred of the Yankees and Giants, but Mike always came off as someone who felt the need to get the last word on everything and look down on everybody cause he was so "knowledgable"

As annoying as Dog got, I always felt he was speaking his mind with no alterior motives...and just wanted to make the show...

Actually the solo shows on the weekends worked well especially baseball/football.

Fatcesca was very good on NFL Sundays and Angry Puppy was entertaining as said above for baseball/tennis stuff. I especially loved his admission he loves to tweak the home team fans. His Yankee elimination day last week when he wore the Tampa Bay Rays hat was hilarious.

I second what twzted and diss had to say.

Actually, his Saturday morning solo shows especially during the baseball playoffs were damn entertaining.

I was thinking the exact same thing. In six months Russo will be back in some capacity. Not as Fatcessa partner but as another solo show.

Haven't listened nearly as much in recent years but whenever a major sports story unfolded, I always tuned in.

Between the two of them, if one was ever going to leave, I thought it would be Francesa cause of his ego. Never thought Russo would be stupid enough to leave such a successful show in the biggest sports market. I guess he was listening to other people who said Russo was the star of the program and Francesa was bringing him down.

I definitely understand being sad in a sentimental way...the show was definitely a big part of my childhood. But taking that out of the picture the show hasnt been a quality one in a long time...they stopped putting any work into the job years ago, I'm interested in seeing what Francessa comes up with for his solo show.

I was emailing with my dad about this today and if its true that Russo is going to Sirius, I think he will fail majorly for two reasons:

Several people have been listening to M & MD forever so the show meant something to them.

I've been listening since the summer of '91 when I was junior high. I remember being in college and listening to these guys in between classes and even now having an office job and still listening to them during my lunch breaks. Yeah, I was saddened by the news cause I enjoyed the program but all good things must come to an end.
