It depends on the genre of literature.
Rupert and Fairplay would be great comic book heroes and villians. One-dimensional characters with stereotyped clothing and gestures. Just like WWE wrestling characters.

If you want a higher level of litertaure with drama and something to say, I'd suggest:

Richard - from Survivor winner to prison, a study in morality, fame, and power.
Steph - great story arc over 2 season, a study in editing and reality.

We talk about strangers as if we know them personally, make fanfics abut them, trying to get in their heads. We might as well think of them like a literary character. Who would you choose to be a fictional character in a book, comic,manga or whatever series?
