I don't think that your workouts sound excessive. And the days off to rest and recover are key.

My workouts are mornings, between 6:30 and 8:30, depending on how fast I'm going that day. Usually 5 days a week. The free weights is simply a break from
the boring cardio -- nothing heavy -- just to maintain strength for a mid-40s guy. I'll try smaller, more protein, but more frequent meals (I think
that's Mountie intended). This will take some adjustment since I'm a light breakfast and average lunch person. Thanks!

You're working out a lot, so you'll need some extra fuel. And the weightlifting means you need protein.

How old are you? If you're over 25 and not a professional athlete, 70 minutes of exercise a day is insane. I don't think your problem is diet; I think
you are way over-training.

I'd suggest cutting back to no more than 30 minutes a day, alternating cardio and weights on different days. And take a few days off, fer chrissakes!

Question for the gym rats: What are your preferred foods?

Two months ago, I've increased my daily routine to 70+ minutes, of which 40 minutes is cardio, and 30 minutes is free weights. I found myself more tired by
5 pm, so I increased my sleep by an hour each night. Still, I'm more tired than ever by the time work is over (mostly paperpushing job). I don't want
to reduce my routine, so maybe the problem is my fue intactl.

recommend they do weight bearing exercises as it spares calcium.
