I'd heard all those famous dead people graves in Boston weren't their original resting places, that they just moved the gravestones around so it's easier for tourists to see them.

Powers is right. Any native NorthEnder will tell you that Mike's is for tourists and that everybody knows that Modern Pastry is the place to go. Among other things, it's about freshness.

While you're there, there's a tiny restaurant further up Hanover St. called Pomodoro. It's killer if you can get in.

Yes, Powers, of course. Mike's is horrible, disease-ridden pastry. Modern Pastry is far, far better. On the spectrum of right and wrong, you are way on the right side and I'm way on the wrong side. There is absolutely no way that they are both very good bakeries. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and knowledge with all of us. We are blessed by your presence!!

I can get better pastry in NYC than in any of the shit dives in the North End. You can't even find decent cookies there.
