when the family sat down to a meal together at a table, the kids learned manners from the parents - once it went to grabbing meals on the run or in front of the TV or at fast food joints, that link was broken.

we had to sit down at a table set with silverware, napkins, etc., then my father served us and we had to use proper manners at every nightly meal.
