No. They went with the bee thing -- he (and the rest of the men) were drones. So the masks and stuff made no sense. And instead of a wicker MAN they should have had a wicker HIVE. I agree. It was disjointed.

Buncha chiks all living together, woo-ing a dude once a year then killing him at a festival with an idol or idols and fire? That was in the remake and if anyone doesn't hear "PAGAN!" screaming inside their head from that, they're probably wearing a bicycle helmet, a fanny pack, velcro shoes and drooling on their buss pass with a vacant grin on their face.

The remake made no sense without the Christian/pagan element of the original. Still, it was one of the funnier movies of that year. Poor Ellen Burstyn dolled up like Braveheart...I hope she was paid well.

I watched the original Wickerman a few days ago too. It's running on one of the showtime channels, I think.

I thought it was bizarre and not very good. The Britt Eckland ass slapping dance in the room at the inn-just seemed so damn stupid.
I thought Christopher Lee did a great job and I loved listening to all the Scottish accents. And the way Rowan Morrison's mother says, hares.
Def. not scary at all.

The limited edition box set has the theatrical cut as well as the extended version.

Then I watched the nic cage one and it seemed kind of normal. The women hitting scenes made me laugh because I've seen them so many times here.
