I used to live in Montana (husband is from there), and we spent some time in Yellowstone - great place. Love your pics, it's bringing back some great memories, Sea.

That looks like a paint pot, Sea. Some of them are exceptionally colorful.

The entrance fee for Yellowstone actually gets you access to both it, and the Tetons, for 7 days. I've bought the Annual Pass before - it gets the holder, and 3 other adults (kids under 16 get in free) in the same vehicle, access to the gamut of Government areas for 12 months from the month of purchase. At $80, it's not bad for a person with a family who'd put it to full use.

It looks very awesome. I'd like to go there. It sounds like the volcanic geology stuff really pissed you off. Was it a big fancy shmancy historic lodge you stayed in? I think I saw some old lodge featured on a tv show. I'd have my dogs with me too - I thought everywhere would take dogs (I've never been turned down).

We stayed in a hotel in West Yellowstone. It wasn't that great, but we had to find a place that would allow dogs. We did not make it to the Tetons, as we had to make it to my husband's family reunion. But for the admission price to Yellowstone you can also get into Teton National Park the next day for free.

Where did you stay while you were there? I camped in the RV camping area when I was there - it was horrible. It had too much light and noise, and there were no trees whatsoever there, so the sun just baked down upon you. The next night I discovered a National Forest camping area on the road leading out the eastern side of the park; it had conifers galore, so it was...

I used to live there - I'd go back in a flash if there was work there in my field. I spent most of my teenage years up there, then went back when I was in my early 30s for another five years.

It was beautiful - and the lack of people and the fact that the people who were there didn't care what you were doing as long as you didn't bother them made it truly wonderful

We think it was a young grizzly, cause it wasn't that big and it didn't really have that hump on its' back like grizzlies have. But I'm no bear expert.

Had a pretty good time, despite having to take a side trip to see the in laws. Actually that wasn't too bad this time either. Everyone was really nice and we had a good time.
