The neighbors invited me over to swim, but I don't know them well enough yet to appear practically naked and wet. I did laundry and cleaned the house, while the old man went to the horse races with his buddies. I guess that makes me a wife.

Tell your MIL over and over how it's just not the same since your dad is gone. Make plans away from home next 4th.

BBQ and beach today with some friends today, and going in a bit to watch the fireworks. My husbands family are all camping up north, and as much as I love them I'm glad we're not there this year.

Tomorrow night we're gonna see Finger Eleven and Seether. Yeah...yeah.....it's free though.

Oh, for God's sake. The MIL decided to "go for a ride" today and ends up at our house right before we were starting to cook our burgers. So, of course, my DH (lol) asks her to stay and eat.

Now this is going to be our new 4th of July tradition. I can feel it. Only it won't stop with the MIL. Once the SIL and her doofus DH (lol) hear about this, I'll end up having them all on the 4th from now on.

They KNEW I always had my dad over on the 4th, and now...
