I loved to watch the ninth episode. Jenna finally saw her letter from home which her momma wrote her letter. The reward challenge was awesome!!! Colleen won and picked Jenna for the barbecue feast. I like the flipping immunity challenge which all of the castaways flipped each tiles in order. This is the episode that I was first saw on AXN back in December 2000 during rerun.

I got a laugh while rewatching Borneo recently when I realised they had to dub in some of Jiffy's post challenge "speeches" because everything was so undisciplined back then that everyone was just talking right over him.

I watched the eighth episode, which the reward challenge performed to play bow and arrow. Jenna's home video failed to sent to CBS because she wanted to see her then toddler kids, Sadie and Sabrina. This is my first time in seven years which I last watched on cable channel back in 2001. I like Greg's reward challenge victory to watch his sissie's video from home and Jeff videotaped to his sissie to talk to her. Rudy also talked to Greg's sister to introduced him.

I thought the editing was okay, but once I saw it again, Jeff's clothes shocked me.
Can you believe he actually used to wear something different?

And can you believe that in Micronesia, he actually wore a pair of white striped shorts?

"Unwatchable" is probably stretching it, but the editors certainly found their groove starting around episode 4. Though I do think they perfectly captured the dynamics of the Pagong tribe in episode 2. We rarely have these days. I know I'm not the only one who misses the days when a tribe had more than one story going on in a single episode.

I agree that twists are needed to keep every season from being a Pagonging, but still, do we really need 4-5 twists per season? They could easily just have one twist every season like they used to back in Marquesas and Africa. Just throw a "random disc tribe swap" into episode 3 or 4, and that should be more than enough. Everything beyond that is just overkill. Once Survivor became more about the twists and less about the people, I think it started to lose itself. There is no...

Honestly, I think the biggest early mistake was mismatch in strength between Tagi and Pagong. In theory, Pagong should never lost even to Tagi in any challenges. Even BB could have kick Rudy's ass (BB is like a foot taller and 10 years younger). Who is Richard's equal? Joel? Greg? Gerverse?

Man for man, Pagong was a superior tribe.

There's no question that Borneo production level was lower then Australia.
The reason it doesn't matter is that they couldn't stereotype the cast of Borneo even if they wanted to. It was not possible because they did a wonderful job of casting interesting and multi-dimensional people.

Oh I agree. I would much rather have Borneo than what we have now. I'm just saying that as good as Borneo was, everything they did well the first season, they did better the season season. I think Australia's production values topped Borneo's in just about every regard.

I thought the butok ic looked good. And whats wrong with lots of dialogue? I don't know,maybe Im old fashioned, but I like cinema verite rather then what we have now,not that Borneo was that exactly,but a good copy

It looks awkward. They didn't know if they were a documentary or a drama yet. There was no such thing as reality TV, so they were basically making it up as they went along. Some of the dialogue scenes, in particular, go on waaaay longer than they probably should.. The gross food challenge in episode 2 was shot with basically one camera and it was at the completely wrong angle.

I wouldn't call it crappy, but I would certainly call it amateurish. I don't think Burnett and company knew what they were doing until about the fourth episode. Not that I blame them, without there being a template for this sort of thing and all, but I still think the first two episodes of Survivor are almost unwatchable.

I was 13 then when I 1st watched Borneo, The only thing I remembered about it is Colleen's cuteness, So I decided to download it from tudou and when I rewatched it, I just realized how crappy the editing was. People are having confessionals about something not showed on Tv. Jiffy's hosting was terrible then and there's a lot of annoying tutorials and voiceovers about the game.

The game's theme was out of the location and the challenges are simple.
