i think i figured it out. there's a brass plate along the bottom of my front door, it's shiny, like a mirror. the bird thinks it's another bird threatening it's nest, it's trying to peck it.

all day there's been a little robin coming around every 10 minutes or so, standing on the front porch, and pecking at the door. at first i was like "who's knocking on my door like a weasel like that", but it's not a weasel. i don't know what he wants, but i'm not answering him.
