Not much difference. They're both camels from the Andes. Alpacas are smaller and have thicker fur (I think they live higher up in the mountains). Llama are mostly used as beasts of burden - their fur isn't worth much. Alpacas are too small to carry much and are mostly raised for their wool.

I prefer to think of mine more as a firehose than a tentacle, Shaggers. Pliable but ponderous when flaccid, and unyielding and uncontrollable when fully erect.

I've noticed a lot of the white guys in my office have started doing the beard thing (figured they were taking their cues from celeb douche like Justin Timberlake or somebody). I don't really approve of it, but then again, I don't approve of their existence in the first place. :-)

Where did this "beard solidarity" shit come from in the first place? I never head of it until the writer's strike and found it to be ridiculous. Am I to understand that like-minded men in support of something are always to grow beards now?

That's just fucking stupid.

I keep a beard in the winter, and goatee in the summer because I usually have a 5:00 shadow by noon.

I've got a goatee which coupled with my smooth bald head makes for a stunning presentation and makes my transitions from angry beatdown man to intimidating-you-with-my-silent-glares to casual disdain all the more wondrous to behold. I look more friendly without the goatee and these days I'm beyond contempt by 7:30 am.

I just spent three weeks growing one just cuz I was curious and lazy and decide to try one out.
Wifey hated it.
