I mostly enjoy the raccoons and opossums that hang around my house.

And, their babies are really cute.

But, sometimes they betray my hospitality by marauding my goldfish pond.

In the pre-dawn hours of late, Mr. Scruff has been stealthily creeping through dewy grass to observe the final, frantic moments of foraging by the nocturnal creatures which inhabit the woods near his home, camera in hand (the other hand is usually down my shorts, generally scratching).

Whither the chupacabra?

There is a possum that hangs out around my house and scares the fuck out of me. He's mostly white, and his rabid mouth is always gaping open.
My dog fucks with the poor thing constantly. And I usually can't get her to come for like 6 hours when she spots the thing. She knows. She stands there and watches it cause she knows the fucker isn't dead.

I hate that thing. He was right outside my door about a week ago. I was scared to go near it.

I got bit on the toe by a possum when I was 5 and had to go thru a rabies series. I did not like.

My rottweiler became obsessed with a baby possum one summer. The nasty thing lived in and then above our woodpile. My dog would stand and stare at the woodpile for hours. When the baby possum moved into the tree, she stared at the tree.

Remember the raccoon cam and how the possum was always evicting the raccoons?

I have a possum that lives under my house. Sometimes I hear it fighting with the cats that wander through and sometimes the neighbors St.Bernards chase it around.

I have had two close encounters with possums.

About eight years ago I put my cocker spaniels (RIP doggies) outside for a last pee before bed. They were barking up a storm. I went out to see what the problem was. They had cornered a baby possum and were barking their fool heads off (they were the dumbest dogs I have ever known). We have possums and raccoons. I'm afraid to try and take pictures. They run at us instead of away from us when we find them in the yard. It freaks me out and I have to keep the cats in.. even though I know the cats must have seen them more then once outside.
