When I was a first year student (living a long way away from home, friends, and family) I was befriended by a nice girl who invited me to meet some of her friends. I was included in many social events. They were a great group of people. I was eventually invited to meetings. I realized I was being recruited and withdrew.

Okay, so I'm listening to news about the latest nutbag cult being raided because of alleged child abuse. This one is in Arizona, and the leader claims to be Jesus.

If you met some guy who claimed to be Jesus, would you pack up and move into a commune and worship him and turn your kids over to him?! I can see one or two lonely nutjobs going along with this sort of insanity, but whole cults. Jim Jones? David Koresh? There must be dozens or even hundreds of these cults all over...
