What James should have done was gone to Erik and Jason, explain to them what was happening and then get Jason to use the idol. However, Amanda should have done was exactly what she did. She said it herself, Jason dosen't trust her. He would've gone straight to Natalie and Amanda would of been in trouble. Instead, she stayed in the middle and votes with the girls, keeping herself safe. The best she could have done was force a tie, and that would be...

amanda did exactly what was right for her. Let James/Ozzy be pissed at the other girls and ride their alliance to the end and get the jury votes. She's heaps good at challenges too so she has a good chance of winning some. James and Erik however, were complete idiots for not suggesting this as it would be in their best interests.

True but why would she think, for a second, that they'd take her to the F3 after blindsiding her with the Ozzy vote...? How could she trust them after that? I think she missed her shot at a big move to turn things back around for herself...not that I'm disappointed...just shocked at her stupidity...

I have to chime in on this.... my sister actually brought up this point (the OP's) and my response was....

Amanda believes that she is in good with Parvati and Cirie. They have their threesome going on and she would rather risk trusting them then going up against those three guys in immunities later down the line. With Jason, Erik, and James... Amanda doesn't have much of a shot of winning in challenges. With the girls however... she knows that she is the strongest and has...

when erik was shaking his head after witnessing them going through the bag, i thought that that was what was going to happen. it would have been a good move. amanda, james, and jason and erik just LOST their last chance to do anything useful. I was thinking this..do James and Erik want to lose? I just don't get it. I can understand Amanda not wanting to flip openly b/c she is in w/ the girls but she told James the plan to vote for Jason but let Jason think they were voting for James..

James is as dumb as a box of rocks..that is the problem. If he had any brain cells whatsoever he would have gotten Erik and went to Jason...told him what was up, told him to play the Idol and the 3 of them would vote for Parv or...

Natalie wrapped the idol up very messy. All this boring girl Amanda had to do was tattle on Natalie and tell Jason to go see if his bag was just as he left it with the idol wrapped up tight. Jason would have believed her if she really made an effort to join up with him. But she didn't because she wants to play the Denise game: "Maybe they will let me stick around. Maybe I will win an immunity. I don't want to make any big moves."

Another perspective, voting out an immunity threat like Jason benefits James and Amanda.

Agreeance with the main point of this thread, Amanda coulda had the boyz vote out a girl using Jasons HII, maybe not Parv, and then she could say she was just upset about Ozzy and had two sides to play. that jason fellow seems pretty easy to sway... then she could assure herself better than F5 since surely she doesn't really think Cirie and Parv have her back after not telling her about Oz???

Well part of it is probably because Cirie and Parvati are still promising Final 3 status. If Amanda believes her then she would have no reason to try and work things around. That said, you would have think she would've learnt from last season where she basically lost because she didn't show the jury she was capable of making power moves (although she did make some during her season just too UTR-ish). No way. Amanda can still make it to the end with the girls. For James its pretty dumb, but James has been one of the dumbest Survivors ever over 2 seperate seasons, so its to be expected.

Ok, here is the "I won't settle for 5th or 6th place" plan. After Natalie searched Jason's bag and found the idol, Amanda and James should have taken in Erik and all 3 go tell Jason what happened. Then the 4 of them secretly agree to vote for Poverty. Jason pretends to be in with Nat still. After votes are cast, Jason plays the H I I. So the vote is : a) Poverty 4 and Jason 4. Poverty leaves. or b) Poverty 4 Jason 3 and 1 vote for someone else in case Jason did...
