Earlier merge means less likable premerge boots, we wont have Gina's and Tracey's. We'll have more people to root for and It can actually save weaker likable players and even Alpha males.

I agree that the merge should come earlier in seasons with 20 people. Otherwise there are too many pre-merge boots and it puts weaker players and females at a disadvantage. (Of course, this season isn't a very good example of that since it's been pretty female-dominated.)

Unless it's a special circumstance like the fake merge in Thailand, the mutiny in CI, or Yau finding the idol in Fiji, any more than six pre-merge episodes is a mistake. Delaying the far superior part of the season doesn't make any sense other than to the producers that want the alpha males to go far.

And even though it's completely unrelated, since it's been brought up, insert my inevitable "Final three sucks" complaint here.

I think the last pre-merge episodes in Cook Islands and Fiji were pretty memorable (especially when compared to those seasons' early episodes). The mutiny, the bottle twist, and Rocky and Lisi's boots were all somewhat satisfying.

Quiddity does have a point. In seasons with 18-20 people, the last pre-merge episode is usually pretty forgettable. As much as I like Guatemala, the F11 episode where Amy gets voted out is a perfect example of this. Even I can't remember everything that happened that episode.
