He flipped out on Osten because it was it was pussy move for Osten to quit. he wasn't tired or depressed or anything. he was just LAZY. he just was like "ah well I've had enough I'm bored with this". pathetic. it was just such a stupid way to quit.

With the amount of applications they receive, it's annoying for someone to just ditch the show. The producers try to cast certain roles and Osten was the "tough" guy, and the token black. Him leaving...

In perhaps the least shocking development in the history of time, Jeff Probst again proved himself to be a racist.

I'm black, and I don't think Probst is racist...at the time Osten quit, no one in the
shows history had ever quit before, and Osten was really muscular and appeared
to be physically fit. So I think that's the reason why it seemed like he was so harsh
toward Osten instead of the most recent quitters.

Well for what it's worth, Probst may have been nice to Kathy on the island when quitting, but wasn't he kind of harsh on her in the interviews before the show premiered? I could be wrong, but I seem to remember hearing Probst making comments about how she just didn't "fit" and that she was a casting mistake this season? I remember hearing Probst comments and immediately thinking to myself "Ohhh Probst thinks she was a mistake, I bet she quits!"
