Reverse psychology only works so far. When you go to THAT extreme, it makes you look like a total ass. Subtle praise and elevation of Archuleta would have been okay for reverse psychology. But the extreme praise for Archuleta's superiority can only have been used to make him win.

The judges look more incompetent and lack more credibility than they already do if Cook ends up winning-especially considering that Cook IS much better than Archuleta (unlike the case with Taylor when...

Even so, you'd think the producers were backing Cook. I missed the part where Archie (the future Britney) the lizard lounge singer would make a fantastic winner and sell CDs. They already got their kidiot winner last season.

I agree in reverse psychology as dangerous. It can so easily backfire. I think everyone is giving Simon WAYYY too much credit and I think he was actually just reading cue cards like normal.

This is my point. Simon goes around saying he wants Cook to win (better interviewer, more experience, better versatility, etc.) but then slams him. Makes no sense to me.

It's possible Simon and Randy tried to piss the fans off enough to create more voting for Cooke. But it's more likely they wanted to back a winner so they don't look stupid.

I said this elsewhere, but it looked to me that Simon gave Cook the opportunity, by telling him he should have sung a repeat, to say exactly why he didn't sing a repeat. The wink almost looked like - "There you go - I did my job."

I'd argue that the judging wasn't balanced (crap, I sound like Fox News), especially for finale night. IMO, Cook's second two songs were better than Archie's, but I see why at least Simon liked them better (Randy's had his head up Archie's ass so far with his incredibly repetitive comments - yawn - so I'm ignoring him) because that's his taste. What I find odd is that Simon goes around praising Cook the last week off the show and doesn't say anything along...

How can you say that Archie sucked less? he performed THREE slow boring fucking songs. He's shown ZERO growth or progression over this entire season, in fact his Imagine last night demonstrated that he might have gotten worse over the course of the series.

I have no problem with them praising Archie... he's an okay singer... but the shit they were spewing to DC last night was beyond retarded. Simon criticizing DC for singing a new song instead of Billie Jean or Hello?...
