Joel denies it and knows he can't trust CTK. Mikey B trusts his alliance partner rather than the people in danger.

It's just nice to see someone who thinks they have their strategy all sewn up, have their arrogance blow up in their face. If there is nothing else to learn from watching years and years of Survior as Mikey B should know is that you have to expect the unexpected. He was strategizing externally, when the real gamers know to keep your enemies closer.

I think it's highly strategic to vote out one half of a couple at the first opportunity. Not only does this cut down on pesky, two-person alliances that can't be broken, but it also removes "ick" and "get a room" factors for anyone who has to share shelter with them. It's a win-win.

Mary credits the Underdogs with saving themselves by approaching Joel <3 Mary had an alliance with Catalie/PreppyDick/LeifGarrett/Alexis, so trying to get her vote would never have worked.

what would have been even better would be if they were to vote out joel(or rather someone who isnt the strongest member on thier tribe) without even going to anyone.

then the vote goes 3-3-2-2 with a tie between mary and joel.

mary and almost guaranteed mikey b. flip in the revote. leaving jason the swing vote and since he went along with thier plan he is likely not to join the people voting out mary.

now of course, all this could only be figured out if you...

They should try and pit Mikey B against Joel that would be the perfect move.
Then it could cause a fraction of
Mikey B with 3 people
v.s. Joel with ??Erik

and suddenly the Kathy Trio might not be in trouble anymore.
I'm sure if they went up to Mikey B and told them what happened, Mikey B would most likely switch his attention to getting Joel booted.

I think they made the right call here.

They still have time to go back and pin everything on Joel. They couldn't pull off a coup alone, so just go with the flow and point your finger at the defectors.

They don't have any time to convince Joel because there's no one else on their tribe that the majority would want to vote out over them. Joel made that pretty clear that he just wanted Mary out so that Mikey B and her wouldn't try to pull something on him later on. He's not gonna vote him out next or before Tracy/Chet/Kathy.

Tonight was basically their only chance to turn the tables on Truckwaffle and they screwed it up.

I thought it was smarter to go with the flow.
Telling Mikey could backfire really easily and Joel could have gone home, but if Mikey believes Joel over the trio (thinking it might be just the trio making a desparate move to save themselves) then once again Chet gets voted off. Now at least the trio have some time to see if they can change things at all like swaying Joel and/or finding the hidden immunity idol if the favorites send her to exile island again.

It was a safe move to NOT be voted out first on their tribe! This reminds me of the Cirie situation she was in on EI, it was going to be her and then things got messed up and before you know it, she's in it for the long haul. Tracy is playing a good game, Kathy is just fumbling through but creating entertainment, and Chet is just a loser.

They were just relieve it wasn't them. A lot of people do that and seem to think because they dodged one bullet, they're safe for a long time.

And yet when Lill made that exact same move, she got hate for it. Honestly, they're in the position to keep the three of them in the game, and if they tell Mikey about the plan, eh might not believe them, or the plan might get back to Joel, and suddenly Chet's on the block again.
