Well, the less the players care about sticking around, the more likely they are to give up guaranteed safety. So as long as we keep getting mactor recruits in the casting, we'll get more immunity give-aways.

There's gotta be some situations where giving up immunity might be beneficial...

If you're in a minority alliance and the majority alliance has some cracks in it, giving up immunity last second might split up votes and allow your minority alliance to gain some control... idk it would be kind of risky but I could see it possibly being a good move... And then if you had the HII and were apart of a minority alliance that could possibly regain control, I could see the...

Giving away immunity has always been the most worthless Survivor twist. Though it's only slightly worse than "Does anybody wanna switch tribes?"

I actually think giving up immunity will become much more popular after this season. I think when one person does something like this, it tends to start a trend. If you'll notice, that's exactly what happened when James failed to play his immunity idols. The next season, TWO people did it. So I definitely think we'll be seeing a lot more of this in the future.....

someone might give it away if the rules were the same as the HII, ie played after the votes were cast - that would put a whole new spin on the way people vote. and maybe, just maybe make otherwise boooring tribal's interesting.

The only possible situation where it would be okay: You get sent to Exile Island at F5 (or whatever round is the last time the Idol could be played) and find the HII. The next day you win Immunity.

It would be justified in that situation or some other situation where you would still be immune after giving it up.

Burton's shouldn't count, though, because he was immune regardless. He lost nothing by giving it up.
