I'm excited for season 3. I felt seasons 2 and 4 were very overrated when I look back in retrospective. Season 4 was dullsville and Carrie cakewalked to the finale and season 2 I loved at the time but now, 5 years later wonder what all the fuss was about.

Today's episode of Rewind is going back to auditions for Season 2. They are not going to replay the whole show again, are they? I'm not in a hurry to start Season 3, in fact, I won't watch it, but I would like to get through it so we can get to Season 4 <3.

I don't think the people behind Idol ultimate goal was to create a county star. If they had to choose between having a big time popstar or a big country star, they are gonna choose the popstar everytime. So I don't see how Carrie can be the ultimate Idol at all....

Oh I don't think so. Its called American Idol, not World Wide Idol for a reason. Knowing you ILGE, you'd want to narrow the competition by defining it as The chubby girl that was the first to win and can sing sorta Idol.

isn't the ultimate idol a WORLD WIDE SUPERSTAR? that was their goal in starting this show according to Simon & Co at the beginning of Season 1...finding an artist that could be a global star.....

Season 3 <3

I love the first 4 seasons because they were so unpredictable, epic, and more surreal. The later seasons have yet to replicate that and they are all pretty predictable and boring.

In Season 4 they got their ultimate Idol Carrie, now I don't think they really care much about finding a superstar now.

Season 3 on Idol Rewind would be amazing. Amazingly BAD. In retrospect, it's difficult to see how the show survived at all, albeit with needed changes (redoing the semifinal format, raising the age limit). Having Mantasia win was like having Lukas Rossi win Rock Star: Supernova--by all rights, it was such a horrible mistake that it should have led to the show's cancellation. But the season's flaws would still be glaringly obvious even if one of the few singers with a good voice...

It was sure fun to watch that Finale again - with a space of five years' time in between. This time I could be totally happy for Ruben, knowing that Clay didn't disappear and has a fine career going. I love all their comments about their friendship, etc. What special young men they are.
