If one reads only the posts by the PBPer one should be okay. Otherwise, yes, MESS is open to spoilers and nobody should be surprised to find them there.

You go into the MESS, YOU WILL BE SPOILED.

By its very definition as "spoiler-based", MESS becomes a risk for a Spec poster. Edgic is not affected by weekly boot spoiling, especially ones based on preview analysis. Edgic's focus is the winner. Figuring out who goes in the next week will have minimal effect at most.

But it does open a can of worms. And, yes, MESS can, occasionally, have boot spoiler info mentioned. Spoiled posters are...

The MESS Hall was created largely as a response to private boards like the old iii during S2, that professed magical powers but without disclosing their methods. Trying to reduplicate that while keeping it open to everyone that ventured within. That means using spoilers, but making it crystal clear WHAT spoilers are being used.

That was before the age of reasonably reliable spoilers. Uncle Camerman vs Now. Now, there's a GOOD chance...

It's okay to use spoilers, including boot spoilers in MESS, but it's designed to discuss the current weeks information. Therefore boot lists are very much frowned upon.

Thanks, croc. But, it's this very thing that makes MESS such a risky place to play. MESS likes to look at all the media bits and pieces to spot and figure out the spoilers; next week's boot, next week's immunity winner, etc...That's a big difference from insider boot...

I personally don't give a shit how a forum is run, but wanted to give a shout to sunsawed who i have enjoyed for years.

Keep in mind, if you edit someting spoilish after it's sat somewhere for a while for everyone to read, you will be confirming it's true.

One reason current boot spoilers and other spoilers are allowed is to discuss their merits along with other evidence. I can recall 3 instances where the boot spoilers were put aside and subsequently proven wrong, and several others where they were ignored. There are many instances wherer other spoilers on challenges...

I support sunsawed's efforts. But it's a tough job. It's hard to go almost anywhere outside of Spec without accidentally seeing something. It's pretty much isolated me to Spec and only Spec. And I love MESS! :P

But even in MESS, there are posters who get sloppy with the boot/winner spoiler talk.

I say blow the whistle on posters who start spoiler threads here or who introduce spoilers into threads. But, I agree...

The Admin Idoits have granted me Mod status over Spec!

That means there's actually someone who can and WILL enforce the "No Spolier" rules of Spec. Spec has been too long the Redheaded Stepchild of Sucks with nobody minding the store. Posters who frequent Spoilers come in and offer their "objective opinions," often bashing people making honest speculation because they know better, thanks to spoilers. No more. DONE.
